"Skilled development Program for Tele-medicine Professionals"
on
1st December 2018, i.e. Saturday

BACKGROUND:

Reaching out to underserved populations for providing healthcare is a huge challenge for both developed and developing nations. A vast majority of healthcare providers are concentrated in urban pockets; leaving the the rural and semi-urban populace with very dismal healthcare facilities. Providing specialist care is even more challenging than providing primary care, due to obvious reasons. Given the lack of adequately trained health force in remote areas, there is a need to augment the knowledge and skills of primary care physicians. Telemedicine programs are intended to address the existing gap so that practitioners and medical students across the country become self-sufficient in treating and managing various diseases efficiently and effectively. Technology is at the heart of telemedicine and hence the dependence on engineers supporting Tele Health projects. Presently, regular formal courses are not being offered in this field at any Institute / Universities in India.

AIM:

Capacity Building among engineers and officials, who would support Telemedicine / Tele health infrastructures in their respective centres, is the main aim of this program. This skill development program shall enable resources across different medical colleges / universities of India to support tele medicine activities. The trained human resource would be able to know technologies involved in telemedicine infrastructure. This in turn will result in better quality of tele education programs in Healthcare sector. Better quality of tele conference will encourage more and more medical practioners to participate in Tele-education and tele medicine activities. This shall help doctors to treat patients with based on latest protocols which are being followed in tertiary care/ super specialty Institutions.
